Annapurna circuit is just one of our adventure holiday treks in Nepal. Book your Annapurna trek adventure in Nepal today with Himalayan Trip Nepal. The Annapurna Circuit trek is a classic trek in Nepal. Experience the Himalaya on a trekking holiday in Nepal with the Nepal trekking specialists.

The Annapurna Circuit was once a three-week journey through the pristine valleys and villages of the Annapurna range, but the construction of two roads encroaching up both sides has shrunken the route significantly. When the final road to Manang is complete, the date of which is unknown and consistently delayed, the roadless section of the Annapurna Circuit may be reduced to as few as five days. First, the Annapurna Circuit isn’t lost yet. Depending on how far up the roads you decide to start and finishing walking, the abbreviated version can now be completed 10–17 days. On the Besisahar side (east) the road up the Marsyangdi Valley reaches greater Chamje (it’s difficult to pinpoint the precise culmination of the road because it deteriorates past Syange and passability depends on the weather conditions, landslides, construction, etc.). On the west side of the Circuit the road extends up the Kali Gandaki Valley to Jomsom. Jeeps and flights are available from Jomsom to Pokhara. There still remains at least 10–12 days and 145 km of roadless trekking from Chamje to Jomsom.

Trip Itinerary

Our trip starts in the lively and bustling city of Kathmandu with an explosion to the senses – take a deep breath! We’ll be there to smooth the transition; a friendly face from Active will meet you at Kathmandu Airport and accompany you to our hotel to regroup after your flight. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and the Kathmandu Valley is the political and cultural heart of the Kingdom. Evening some briefing about Annapurna Circuit Trek with trekking guide. Overnight at Hotel.

Drive Kathmandu to Besisahar then take a local jeep to Ngadi (950m) 8 hours. An early departure from the City of Glory, we drive west out of the Kathmandu Valley and along the Trisuli Valley towards the stunning mountain views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges. At the half way point we change course and start to follow the Marsyangdi Khola (river) until Besisahar. The drive begins with a gentle walk following the Marsyangdi Khola, through several small villages until Bhulbule. The village lies on the banks of Marsyangdi Khola, in a large luscious green valley, which offers a distant view of mountains in the Manaslu range. It is here we enter the Annapurna conservation area and register for the first time at an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) checkpoint. The circuit’s trail today is an easy start as we cross the first of many suspension bridges shortly after Bhulbule, and then follows a flat path through rice fields. Do not be deceived; the circuit becomes more challenging, as the numerous ascents we encounter will prove. Continuing along Marsyangdi Khola’s east bank the trail ascends through a big green valley towards Bahundanda passing through the villages of Ngadi

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

A steep trail descends from Bahundanda before crossing a stream. It then climbs again and traverses the hillside before reaching the village of Hani Gaon. You follow the winding mountain path down through Syange and along the river for some distance. The trail then climbs steeply and the path is cut into the sheer cliff – face some 200 – 300m above the river – bed. Eventually you descend to the stone village of Jagat, situated on a shelf, which juts out into the Marshyangdi valley. Overnight at Jagat (1310m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

The trail from Jagat descends until it reaches the river and then continues through a lush forest, before ascending to a sharp – edged cliff facing the riverbank. After crossing a suspension bridge, you climb steeply on the path to Sattale and then to Tal. As you walk away from Tal, the path becomes rugged and winding and you pass the forested village of Karte before you finally reach Dharapani. Overnight at Dharapani (2000m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

We trek to Bagarchap, which means “butchers place”. The people of this area hunt animals, even though they are Buddhist. We continue to walk through forest, before coming to the village of Temang, where we have lunch and can enjoy views of Manaslu and Peak 29. We then continue to walk through alpine forest to Chame the administrative centre of the Manang District. Overnight at Chame (2700m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

Chame to Brathang to Pisang (3200m), We notice changes in the scenery, we leave the forest areas and enter the more barren region of Manang. At first we follow the river through a canyon, passing waterfalls before coming to Brathang. We have a break here before heading through a narrow, forested valley. We get good views of Annapurna2. We then walk upwards to the village of Pisang, where we stop for the night. Overnight at Pisang (3200m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

We walk over a low pass and through the valley below Pisang Peak. We continue to walk through increasingly more barren scenery, before reaching the picturesque village of Bragga. There is an ancient Gompa here, which is worth a visit. We continue to walk onwards to Manang where we stop for the night. Overnight at Manang (3500m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

We climb the hill behind Manang, getting views of the Annapurnas and the ice fall of the Gangapurna. The views of the mountains here are spectacular. After reaching Manang, you take a day off for complete rest and adequate acclimatization before crossing the Thorung La. Overnight at Manang (3500m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

Leaving Manang you cross a stream, climb to Tengi, 120 meters above Manang and ascend further past Marshyangdi Valley turning up the valley of the Jarsang Khola. The vegetation of scrub juniper and alpine grasses marks the climb in altitude as you reach the small village of Gunsang, a cluster of flat mud roofs just below the trail at 3960 meters. The trail takes you further along a large stream that flows from Chulu Youst and Gundang and leads to Letdar. Overnight at Leder (4200m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

We continue to trek until we reach the small enclave of tea houses that is Thorung Phedi. Depending on how the group is feeling we may be able to head up to the Lodge at the start of the Thorung La. Overnight at Thorung Phedi (4500m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

We have an early morning start, the ascent is steep, but eases off, though the altitude makes it tough going for Thorung La Pass (5416m). There are many false summits, before reaching the pass itself at (5416m). Ahead we enjoy magnificent panoramic views of snow capped peaks heading into Tibet, behind us there are views of the Annapurnas. We then continue onwards, before descending through various switch backs, which start gently becoming steeper, before reaching the grassy slopes of Muktinath. Overnight at Muktinath (3700m).

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

You now begin the descent down the dramatic Kali Gandaki valley, initially through arid country in the same geographical and climatic zone as Tibet. After passing through Jharkot and Khingar, villages with typical Tibetan architecture, you follow the valley floor most of the way to Jomsom. En route, you get tremendous views of both Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. Jomsom is a large town sprawled along both banks of the Kali Gandaki River, and it is here you will spend the final night of your trek. Overnight at Jomsom (2795m)

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included

You take an early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. It is a spectacular flight along the Kali Gandaki Gorge and provides wonderful views of both the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Pokhara is a lovely lakeside town that has an ideal climate and is the launching point for trekking in Annapurna. 1 and half hour we will spent in Pokhara to the lunch and Fly back to Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel.
